Gaelforce Cycle West - 19th & 20th September 2009

Gaelforce Cycle West is a new event created this year by the organizers of Gaelforce West Adventure Race. The event takes place on the 19th and 20th of September. There are two challenges aimed at both mountain bikers and road bikers. The challenges are open to the hard core and the Sunday cyclists as there are a variety of categories on offer from soloists to teams of 10. Breathe easy you won’t be expected to cycle for 24hrs, unless you wish to!! Team members work in a relay system with only one member on the course at a time.
The 24hr Mountain bike challenge will take place in the Nephin Mountains, Co. Mayo on a 20km track encompassing stunning scenery along forestry tracks and the Western Way. The 24hr road bike challenge will be a world first and is to take place in the Delphi valley passing famous beauty spots such as Ashley falls, Killary Fjord and Mweelrea, Connaught’s highest mountain.
